Why Everyone Should Love Greg!

Hey everyone! Many of you probably don't know this but Hope is being translated into German by Chiemseekatze and a friend. Chiemseekatze and I were talking and found out we share a common interest: Greg. And she asked if she could write a blog post on why everyone should love Greg. I thought it was ingenius and here it is! Enjoy :). Thank you for this Chiemseekatze!


Somehow it seems that everybody hates Greg, so here are 9 reasons why everybody should like Greg!

1. He saved Jasper

When Jasper joined the gang, Greg and the gang helped him against Steve,there's a really good quote from Jasper in hope, when he is in jail for the
murder of Allen Meyer:

I regretted things I had done. I hated what I did during my time with the gang, but would I still be alive if I hadn't joined?
There had been many times when one of the gang members showed up just as something was going to happen with my stepdad. Steve had backed off quickly when Greg showed up one day, his cruel smile shining, a shotgun in hand. I guessed that I had needed them in my life then. They protected me when I had no one else.

2. He saved Mack – twice

I'm sure you all now the first time, when Mack tied to kill himself because of Katie's death and Greg stopped him. I think Mack would have tried it more
times if it hadn't been for the gang. And of course Greg kind of saved him, when he shoot him because of Alice. If he hadn't cared about Mack, he would have let him die and killed Alice too, but he did everything he could to save him, he must have known, that Alice, Nick or Jasper would take his gun, but he didn't care, because he wanted to save Mack.

3. Without him Hope wouldn't be Hope

Imagine there was no Greg in Hope. There wouldn't be a gang, no revenge,… there wouldn't be that much action^^ the only bad guy would be Steve and I
think Greg is so much more likable than Steve, because he actually has a reason to be angry with Jasper, Steve doesn't, and I think no one likes Steve,
but I know someone, who likes Greg… me^^

4. All the gang members wanted to join the gang

He never forced anyone to join the gang and all of them knew the consequences of leaving, so I think it was pretty much Jaspers fault that Greg started his
revenge. Of course Jasper did the right thing with leaving, but he should have thought it through a bit better before joining it in the beginning.
All the gang members wanted to join the gang and probably had their reasons, so maybe Greg helped some of them, like he helped Jazz and Mack, so I don't think that he do anything bad to them. He helps them, maybe his ways to do it are not the best, but he tries^^

5. He's (nearly) always calm

I think it's pretty crazy and interesting, that, if someone punches him, he mostly doesn't care and doesn't do anything to them.
Here are some quotes:

He yelled in my face, his hand rose again, but this time mine hit his face, I wasn't thinking! I heard everyone in the diner gasp then it was silent. Greg wiped the blood off his lip and looked straight into my eyes. I opened my mouth but didn't say anything.
"I-I-I" was all that finally came out. His nostrils flared angrily. He walked away from me.

The gun clattered down to the floor as he shoved Greg against the wall, his right fist smashing into Greg's face. An impressive punch, considering Jasper was left handed. Two guys grabbed Jasper before any of us knew it. I was taking deep breaths, my adrenaline pumping as I looked on, wide eyed. Greg, as always, looked amused by Jasper's actions. Even as blood pooled in his mouth, he still managed a chuckle as he spit it to the floor.

The words were quickly cut off by my fist hitting him in the mouth. I had warned him once about talking about Chloe. […]
Greg straightened himself up and wiped his mouth smoothly, not wiping off his devilish smile with the blood, though. […]
Greg pulled a short straw out of the inside pocket of his jacket and sat back down at the table. "Ready to party like the old days?" he inquired with a crooked smile on his face.

I think that's more than enough, you all know what I mean. I think that's cool, I would be much more angry than that if someone punched me, but he just goes on and doesn't mention it^^

6. He is Mack's friend

I think at one time he might have even been his only friend, you know, before Alice came to Forks. Katie was dead, he didn't do anything with his old friends anymore, he didn't even visit his family! Neither Nick nor Jasper cared about him and I don't think any of the other gang members did. He was just to different. I doubt that anyone beside Greg really knew what happened to Katie and he tried to help him the best he could, he wanted to help him and really cared about him, especially when he saved him after he has shoot him.
One of my favourite quotes describes it perfectly:

"I guess you could say that I was saved by Greg. He really isn't that bad. He might act like a scum bag, but I know deep down he has feelings. He just tries to act like stone, but I know better." Mack smiled weakly and tapped his temple.
"I know things. He can punch me or fight with me when he is angry and do things beyond horrible, but I know he cares about me," Mack said, speaking fondly of Greg.

And an other one, when Greg says he cares about him:

"No-no, just listen to me! This would have been your anniversary with her and I don't want you doing anything stupid, all right? Just get a little buzzed so I don't worry."

7. He's absolutely great in Forgotten Hope

I think it's just great how he talks with Alice and she doesn't understand his jokes^^ and he sometimes kind of helps Alice, you know, when she is so confused, because she doesn't know if she should pick Jasper or Spencer and when he lets her sleep in his apartment. I think it's so funny, how he always says something and she doesn't understand him, sometimes he even warns her about himself^^

"I was just thinking about all of the stuff you probably don't remember. Places, situations, people..." he said, opening his devious hazel eyes to meet mine. "They all still have those memories, and yet, you don't have a clue. Kind of creepy, right? Like when Johnny found you... he knew you, but you wouldn't know him from any other kid in Forks, right? I was just thinking how weird it would be if one of your old friends came to visit you in New York. You could bump into them on the street and not have a clue who they were, but they'd know all about you."

"I'm stupid," I groaned in misery […]
I heard Gregory mumble something under his breath that sounded like "More than you even know."
I glanced up at him in confusion, but I saw sympathy in his look, so I shook it off. I must have heard wrong.

"From my experience, I've noticed that people's sketchy backgrounds usually come after them later in life. You can't run away from the past. Never forget that, Alice. The past is always with you." He looked me pointedly in the eyes, smiling. […]
"If you say so. But that doesn't mean the dangers of his past won't follow him," he said, waving off my protest. "You know Spencer's past. You know all of the skeletons in his closet. I'm just saying that maybe you don't know all of Jasper's."

8. You never know what he'll do next

I think that makes him interesting, by most of the other guys you kind of know what they'll do next, but he never does what you think he'll do, some examples:
1 When Alice had the vision of Mack killing himself and drives to him and stops him and Greg comes, he didn't do anything.
2 He tried to help Mack after he shot him.
3 He doesn't do anything to Alice when she sleeps at his place
And
4 Alice and Chloe are in his apartment and he goes shopping with them!


9. He calls Nick "Nicky"

I think that's just great^^ I think deep down he likes him, but probably not even he himself knows that^^


I hope you all like Greg now, because I think he's the best character in Hope and I really love him, but I think no one else does. I think that's not very
good for his wealth, because if more people would like him Lina and Lucy can't just let him die^^

Haha! Isn't that fantastic? Some good reasons why to love Greg and the list goes on! Dont forget his devious smirk! Tha is reason enough to love him ;).

I'm sure you've noticed that lina has been a little late on updating lately so I figured I'd give you a bi of a Hope fix to hold you off.

No Forgotten Hope Update

What is your favorite candy? I’m not a big fan of candy, but every once in a while I like one of those caramel and chocolate candy bars… the ones that kind of melt in your mouth? They’re pretty good!

Have you ever been awake for more then 2 nights straight? Uh huh… after being sick for a few days. I still had to work, so that was just taking all of my energy out of me. I fell behind on my homework schedule, so I stayed up, with coffee, for a little over two nights… which probably wasn’t the best idea because I ended up getting sick again without the extra rest. Luckily the second time was over the weekend, so I was able to get well while still staying on top of my homework. I won’t do that again….

Who's the last person that told you they loved you? Nicky :o)

When's the last time you had a headache? Mmm… not for a while. I’ve sort of become immune to headaches… maybe when Bryce came in for a surprise visit and I had to hide him from Nick… I was sort of a mess. That was probably the last time I had a serious headache.

Do you like reading? Yes! I LOVE reading! Nick doesn’t get it… haha.

Do you ever think about stuff and start crying? I try not to. I think about a LOT of stuff, but I’ve been really happy lately, despite everything that’s happened with my family… *shrugs* It’s not worth crying over things that I won’t ever be able to change. I’m just going to be happy with what I have now, because… I think I’m probably the most happy I’ve been in… a long, long time.

Do you ever think "what if" about anything? I don’t want to, but I do. The main one is probably “What if Bryce decides to come back for me?” I know Nick wouldn’t let it happen, but it’s still a ‘what if’… :-\

Have any memories that you'd like to forget? Sure, but… I guess everything that has happened has made me who I am today, so… *shrugs* I don’t know…

What is the last thing you said out loud? Probably something along the lines of “No problem, sweetheart. Take your time. No, don’t kill Jasper—I really don’t mind waiting. Kay, love you too. See you soon.”

Ever go camping? No, but I would. I think there are a lot of places we could go outside of the city… might be fun someday. Maybe I’ll ask Nick if he thinks Jasper and Alice would want to go with us sometime after it gets warmer.

What did your last text message say? Let me check… oh, a new one. From Nick. ‘Getting out of the shower now. Promise I’ll be there soon.’

What are you doing tomorrow? Working during the day, and then I’m not sure what’s going on at night yet. I’ll probably end up spending time with Nick while he catches up on his school stuff. Maybe watch a movie with him…cuddle… ;o)

What were you doing at 12 AM last night? Well, usuallyyyy I’m sleeping by 12 AM, but SOMEONE who happened to be sharing the bed decided that a make out session was in order. So I was… pretty much wrapped in Nick’s arms and loving it.

How many states have you lived in? Two—California and now New York.

How did you get your worst scar? The one on my knee from falling up the elevator when I was little is probably the worst. It’s not too bad though.

Kissed someone & regretted it?: Yeah, when Bryce was here but I wanted to be with Nick…. I couldn’t… say no, though. I hope you can understand that. I really do. I never wanted to hurt Nick….

Lost someone special?: I don’t really believe that people are ever ‘lost’ to us….

Been depressed?: I don’t really know what I was while in California. I guess it might have been called ‘depressed’ but… I didn’t know it…? I’m still working on figuring that stuff out, to be honest.

Been drunk and threw up?: Luckily, no. I hate throwing up.

IN THE PAST YEAR HAVE YOU:

Made new friends: Yes

Fallen out of love: I don’t think I was ever in love with Bryce. I thought I was in the beginning of our relationship, but… that was NOT love. So no, I haven’t fallen out of love. I think I’m falling into it now though….

Met someone who changed you: Absolutely. 100%. Yes.

Found out who your true friends were: Yep. I don’t need a lot of friends, but the few that I do have have been… just… more than I could ever hope for.

What did you do for your last birthday: For my 19th birthday... I met with my parents at Harvard with Bryce and then he took me out to celebrate it with him. I shouldn't have. And my 20th will be better.

Last time you saw your father: Thanksgiving. Not unhappy about it. It’s better this way.

What is one thing you wish you could change about your life: I wish I wasn’t so… just… ugh. I don’t know how to say it. Nervous, maybe? Like… things make me flinch way too easily. I don’t want to be like that… I just want to be more… relaxed, I think. I think I’ve been getting better about that lately, though. Maybe I’ll grow out of it entirely. I’m hopeful. Other than that… like I said before, I’ve learned from everything that has happened in my life and I think making it through tough things only makes a person stronger, so… honestly, I wouldn’t change anything, but I’ll welcome change in the future. Things can only get better from now on. They’ve already started to :o)

Did your last kiss take place on a bed? Last make out session was on a bed, haha, yes. Last kiss was… me standing over the bed and Nick sort of kissing me goodbye in his sleep. He’s too adorable, especially when he’s sleeping soundly….

Do you believe that the last person that you kissed cares for you? Absolutely.

The person you like at the moment finds someone new, what is your reaction? I don’t think he would just… find someone new. I think if it were going to happen, it’d be over a period of time, and I’d realize it and we’d talk about it. So it would never be a shocker or anything if it were to happen. I just… don’t think it will. Nick’s been pretty open about how he feels about me. I’m confident he’s not going to leave me for someone else.

Could you stay in the same relationship for over a year? If I could with Bryce, I’m positive I could with Nick. So yes. Definitely. I get pretty attached….

Do you like to cuddle? Mmhmm. Especially after a long day… best thing ever is cuddling with Nick.

Will you be in a relationship in the next couple months? I’m planning to be….

What are you listening to? I was listening to music, but now it’s just silence. I can hear the traffic outside, now that I’m concentrating… I guess I don’t really hear it so much anymore. It’s something you sort of just get used to hearing all the time.

Has anyone told you they don't wanna ever lose you? Yes 3

Have you ever kissed someone with a lip ring? I haven’t, nope.

What time did you wake up this morning? Around 7:00.

Have you held hands with somebody in the past four days? Sure have. It’s weird how some people are just good hand-holders, you know? Like with Nick… I don’t know. He just knows how to hold your hand. He’s so gentle about it, yet he holds on tight… confidently. It’s like he never wants to let go… like he’d be content just holding my hand forever. That sounds so sappy… and kind of unrealistic… but I’m serious. He holds on in a way that makes me feel so safe and loved and warm… haha but I digress. Yes. I’ve held hands over pretty much the past four days.

Who makes you the happiest? I feel like Nick’s the answer to all of my questions. He makes me so so happy. But Alice makes me happy too, even if I worry about her sometimes. And Jasper makes me happy for keeping an eye out for Alice… and for being there for Nick when he needs him…. So my friends make me happy too—even if Nick makes me happiest ;o).

Have you ever let someone be your everything? I’ve always sort of been my own everything, you know? When I was growing up, I had my parents to impress, but I wanted to do things for myself, too. So… I don’t know. When Bryce and I started dating, I put a lot into our relationship that I shouldn’t have… and I really let him… have a big influence. But I still don’t think he was ever my everything… nor were my parents… I was always my everything because I was all I really had at the end of the day, and I think instinctively, I knew that.
…But now, Nick’s coming really really close to passing me up on being my own everything. If he isn’t already, he will be… I can feel it. And I think I’m…strangely okay with that. I trust him enough to know that it’s mutual. Maybe the way it works is you can make someone your everything and put them before yourself only if that person makes you their everything and puts your before themselves. That way, you’re looking out for each other.

Do you have more guy friends or girl friends? Let’s see. I have a few ‘friends’ at school who are girls… no one I’d really hang out with outside of school, though, unless it was to study. I guess the women I work with are sort of my friends? And then I have Nick, Alice, Jasper, and Spencer… so more close guy friends, but more girl friends in general. Strangely enough.

Is your hair up or down right now? Down, since we’re going out. Anddd Nick’s here! He’s going to let me finish up though ;o)

How is your day going so far? Not too bad now that Nick’s here because he’s the most amazing guy ever and I love him. (Yeah, Nicky typed that one, but he’s giving me those big innocent eyes like he can do no wrong. Too cute, which is why I’ll just leave that answer ;o) haha).

What's your favorite color? Hmm. Good question. I think it changes often. Right now, I love purple. Alice painted my nails purple recently, actually, so maybe I like it because I’ve been seeing it so much haha. But purple’s pretty… I really like going on the roof of the apartment and watching the sun set though… I think sometimes you can see colors that don’t even have a name yet. That’s probably my all time favorite. I’ll have to take Nick up there with me some time….(And he agrees.)

Are you watching television? Nope.

Do you believe that everyone deserves a second chance? I want to believe it, but I don't know if I can.... Yes and no. It depends on the person. Regarding my parents... I'd like to give them a second chance, if they asked me for one. Bryce... I'm really okay if I never gave him one. I just don't want to get into stuff with him again... I'm so much better off without him....

And Nick's watching me SO intently as I'm responding to this question! Haha...okay. I vote... overall, yes. Everyone deserves a second chance. Unless they've really hurt me and I don't believe that their second chance request was legitimate.

What kind of mood are you in? Content. I am in the mood to just go out and have a good night.

Do you take naps? I can't remember the last time I took a nap. I just don't have the time. My day starts early, I go from work to school or school to work, do homework, eat dinner, shower, have some downtime with Nick, and then I go to sleep.

What's your favorite ice cream flavor? This is going to sound disgusting, but it's actually really really good. I like vanilla ice cream with warm maple syrup, and granola on top. Amazing. But if I'm getting an ice cream cone or something, I like pumpkin ice cream.

What's your main goal in life? I want to make a difference... to influence just one person. I'd love it if one day, someone looked back and said 'Wow. I wouldn't be who I am today without her.' I guess that's my number one goal. I have a lot of goals... but I'm trying to slow down and just take everything one step at a time. :o)

If I hadn’t had Jasper I would have never come to New York and I would never have found Chloe, So, my answer is yes. Plus, I think sometimes you need friends to help you learn how to love before the real thing.

I’m pretty excited for Christmas. Except I’m nervous too. It’s my first Christmas in a while that I’m actually spending with friends. And of course it will be my first Christmas with Chloe.

All right all right... There was no vote, but I'm just figuring you all hates his guts! Or I hope so...? But some of you might say Greg is a tie. I love Greg though ;).

Today a special guest is here to visit. Greg Gagnon is going to spend a little time telling us his thoughts on love. Why doesn’t love work out? Why can’t love be simple? Why is it so hard for Hope couples to have a good, drama free relationship? Greg is here to answer all questions.

Greg: Before we start this I am going to lay out one thing you should all know about love: it’s not real. Now let’s begin on this brainless subject.

We’ll start with Jasper and Alice, since you’re all fans of the idiotic couple. Why aren’t they working out? It’s really obviously. It’s the same reasons Nick and his new little whore Chloe aren’t working out. We’ll start with the first reason.

1. Men are unable to trust anyone fully. (Nick & Chloe’s ‘big problem’)
They say love is all about trusting someone completely with your everything, (Which by the way is bull. You are just leading yourself up for betrayal) but Nick and Jasper are incapable to trust anyone fully. They hardly even trust themselves. Trusting a girl with everything, their lives, and secrets from the past, everything that would ruin them. Yeah right... They wouldn’t even do that if they wanted to. That is why a relationship with them would ever work out. The truth is that no one completely trusts anyone fully. If they say they do they are lying through their teeth to you. It’s impossible. And that's why reason one is: trust. Because no one can trust someone enough to ‘love’ them, if love is trusting someone completely.

2. No one can be loyal (Alice, Jasper & Spencer’s ‘big’ problem)

Alice is a good explain of this. She can’t pick one guy. She likes Spencer, but also likes Jasper. And she can’t give either of them up. Everyone lusts for other people, no matter if they are in a relationship or not. People want other people. People cheat on their significant others. No one can ‘love’ so one so much to turn off their turn on button. They get turned on by other people and nothing can stop that. Even if they don’t technically cheat on them they are cheating on them in their minds, which is almost the same just without getting the real action. It’s being pathetic. And without loyalty and trust...where are you? Nowhere.

3. ‘Love’ is a crutch. (Mack’s problem)

People use this delusion emotion for excuses. It’s an excuse to be weak and pathetic. Mack is a perfect example of this. Having ‘loved’ Katie he thinks he can’t live a real life without her now that she’s gone. That is wrong. He is using the excuse of loving her too much so he doesn’t have to get the hell over it and move on. People blame their failures, mistakes and pain on other people or the love they have for them. “I did it for my girlfriend.” Or “I couldn’t do it. My girlfriend wouldn’t have wanted that.” All stupid excuses for their own fears and mistakes. In Mack’s case, he could move on. He just doesn’t want to lose the crutch he has.

There are three reasons right there. There are three solid proofs why this ‘love’ isn’t real nor would it ever work out. If you still believe. You are delusion. You are going to end up like Mack... Take my word for it. I am the one who will be brutally honest with you. Save the pain. Go party with some hoes.
